One night Hazrat Data Ganj Baksh Hajweiri
(Rahmatul Laahi ‘Alaieh)) saw his spiritual guide and teacher Hazrat Shaiekh Abu’l Fadl Al-Khuttali [Rahmatul Laahi Alaieh]in a dream saying to him: "O, my son! you have been appointed you as the qutb of Lahore. Be prepared and start forthwith for Lahore." He replied, "Your Holiness has already appointed Khwajaa Hasan Zanjaani [Rahmatul Laahi Alaieh] as the Qutb of Lahore. What is the need for this humble being in his presence there? Thereupon his spiritual guide and teacher said: "O my son! Do not argue with me and leave for Lahore without loss of time."
Around 431 AH, in the reign of Mahmud Ghaznavi, he left Ghazni for Lahore ….
When he had reached the outskirts of the city, it had grown dark. He stayed outside the city and entered it in the morning. To his great surprise, he saw a funeral. On his inquiring, he learn t that it was the funeral of Hazrat Shaiekh Khwajaa Hasan Zanjaani [Rahmatul Laahi Alaieh], who had passed away the previous night. He led the funeral prayers.

Hazrat Daataa Ganj Bakhsh Hujweeri (Rahmatul Laahi ‘Alaieh) was both a Hasani and Husaieni Saiyyid.

was both a Hasani and Husaieni Saiyyid. 

He is the renowned Soofie Shaiekh of 5th century Hijri and is well known with his title Daataa Ganj Bakhsh the Bestow-er of Treasures. He was originally from Hujweer, a town in Ghazni (now Afghanistan), and later migrated to Lahore for the propagation of Islaam following the instructions of his Spiritual Master. He is known as the Imaam of Imaams and the paradigm of the Sunnites. He was firmly grounded in works of mortification and devotion, and was a great authority on the principles of Tasawwuf.

He wrote many books …the most famous of his book his masterpiece of Tasawwuf and the first book written on this topic in Persian, Kashaf al-Mahjoob. This is the most popular book of Tasawwuf all over the world. Sultaan ul-Auliya Shaiekh Nizaam ud-Deen Auliyaa [Rahmatul Laahi Alaieh] is quoted to have said:

 “One who does not have a Murshid will find a Murshid by the blessings of reading this book.”

If you give this month its due respect and act properly during it, these blessings will come to you from the Almighty Allaah Kareem The Creator of the Universe our Sustainer our Lord.

They will come to you in this world as strengthening and enlightening for your hearts, and as favor and receiving of grace, outwardly and inwardly. In the hereafter there will come to you what no eye has ever seen, no ear has ever heard and has never occurred to any human heart.

Hazrat Khawaajah Mu’een ud Deen says that after full 20 years hard training in the Science of Spirituality [Tasawwuf] under this great Spiritual Guide, at the age of 46, in the year 582 AH at Baghdad, he was awarded Khilaafat in the Chishtia Silsilaah. At this stage he could see everything from the Abyss of the Earth

[tahtus sudra] and up to The Glorious Veil [al-Hijaab e Azmat].

If this is the status of the Friend of Allaah Kareem [Walee ul Laah] then what must have been the status of the Prophet’s Companions [Sahaaba’s], the Prophets of Allaah Kareem and the Leader of all Prophets, the Holy Prophet [Peace be upon him, his family and his companions]?

What do certain people believe in this 14th Century after Hijraah? I have the book available in which they say that the Holy Prophet [Sallal Laahu Alaieh Wa Sallam] ----- did not even know what was behind the wall. They have not understood the status of the Holy Prophet [Sallal Laahu Alaieh Wa Sallam].  The Spiritual Master of Spiritual Masters [Khawaajah e Khawaajaah gaan] Hazrat Khawaajah Bahaa ud deen Naqshbandi [May Allaah Kareem be well pleased with him] says,

‘According to us the Perfect Spiritual Guide [Kaamil Walee] is he who witnesses the whole earth as one sees one’s fingernails.’ This is the status of Auliyaa Allaah Kareem.

Should I not tell you about the Companions [Sahaabah]? Once the Holy Prophet [Sallal Laahu Alaieh Wa Sallam] summoned Hazrat Zaied ibn Haaris [Radiyal Laah Anhu] and enquired about his spiritual state.

He replied, ‘Sir, my state is such that I can see unto the Divine Throne [Arsh] and I recognize every person destined for heaven and every person destined for hell. Further, my beloved Prophet, if you grant me permission, I will relate everything that is to occur till The Day Of Judgment [Qiyaamah] and what would occur on The Day Of Judgment.’ The Holy Prophet [Sallal Laahu Alaieh Wa Sallam] replied, ‘There is no need to do so. Do not reveal Divine Secrets.’

Hazrat Uwaies Qarani [Radiyal Laah Anhu] is a story that sets an example for all the Muslims as how even without meeting the Prophet Muhammad (Sallal Laahu Alaieh Wa Sallam), one may still earn Allaah Kareem’s favor and His pleasure, on account of his unflinching love for the Prophet Muhammad (Sallal Laahu Alaieh Wa Sallam).

Hazrat Uwaies Qarani [Radiyal Laah Anhu] could never meet the Holy Prophet [Sallal Laahu Alaieh Wa Sallam] in person, but he is arguably the only person in Islaamic history who is said to have been accorded the status of Honourable Sahaabi (companion) by none other than Prophet Muhammad [Sallal Laahu Alaieh Wa Sallam] himself.

(To be in the status of Companion, it required the criterion of meeting the Holy Prophet while being a Believer and having faith.)

There are different duties of the Auliyaa Allaah and they have been blessed differently. We don’t understand. There are 124 000 different degrees of Friendship Of Allaah Kareem [Wilayat] and every one of them is on the footsteps of a Rasoolul Laah [Sallal Laahu Alaieh Wa Sallam]. Therefore it is said, ‘Only a Walee is able to recognize a Walee’.

Life Events Of Hazrat Ghaus e A'zam Shaiekh Saiyyid Abdul Qaadir Jeelaani [Rahmatul Laah Alaieh]

At the latter stages when Ghaus Paak [Rahmatul Laah Alaieh] reached the level of Ghausiyat a thief broke into his house and the disciples’ caught him. They took him to Hazrat Ghaus al-A’zam [Rahmatul Laah Alaieh] who questioned him as to why he came to steal. The thief replied that he thought many expensive gifts must be brought here since many of the nobles visit this house. He went on to explain that as soon as he put his foot in the house he went blind, was caught .....He pleaded for forgiveness. Hazrat Ghaus al-A’zam [Rahmatul Laah Alaieh] asked him to sit until he finished reading his Wazeefaa. The robber repented sincerely in his heart whilst sitting there in apprehension that the disciples would beat him. Why should he have not repented seeing that he had come to an Aastanaa of such a high spiritual standing. As soon as Hazrat finished his Wazaaif [plural of Wazeefaa] he performed his late night prayer [Tahajjud], lifted his hand for Dua and looked towards the thief. These Auliyaa are overflowing with compassion and grace. Hazrat Ghaus al-A’zam [Rahmatul Laah Alaieh] said, ‘O Allaah Kareem! If this thief went to a materially rich individual he would have got something for his efforts, how can I send him back empty handed. He came to get the riches of this world, but I pray you give him the wealth of Islaam. He came for temporary [Faani] wealth, You give him everlasting [Baaqi] wealth. His physical eye has become blind, O Allaah Kareem ! Restore not only his physical eyesight but open his inner eye [Baseerah]’

It was the last third of the night, the time of acceptance of Dua and this was the Dua of Abu Muhammad Abdul Qaadir Hazrat Ghaus al-A’zam Mahboob e Subhaani [Rahmatul Laah Alaieh] so it was definitely answered. Allaah Kareem ! Restored his sight and granted him spiritual sight. He now looked up to the preserved tablet [Al-lauw Al Mahfooz]. He fell on the feet of Hazrat Ghaus al-A’zam [Rahmatul Laah Alaieh] and begged to be admitted as his disciple and servant. He was initiated into the spiritual order and at the same time granted commission as a spiritual successor [Khilaafat]. Before the Azaan for the Fajr Salaah, Hazrat Khizr [Alaiehis Salaam] came and informed Hazrat Ghaus al-A’zam [Rahmatul Laah Alaieh] that the spiritual head [Qutb] of a certain area had died. Hazrat appointed the very person as the successor to the Qutb of that area. The man came as a thief but left as a Qutb....Sub Haan Laah...
